Dr. Jeffrey
Elected to Membership in American College of Chest Physicians -
November 2002
Dr. Jay R. Jeffrey, a Batesville surgeon and fellow
of the American College of Surgeons, has been elected to membership
in the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Jeffrey is a general,
thoracic, and peripheral vascular surgeon and is chief of the medical
staff at White River Medical Center at Batesville. He served as
chief of surgery at White River Medical Center during 2000 and 2001.
Part of Dr. Jeffrey’s medical practice concerns
the diagnosis and surgical treatment of benign, malignant, and traumatic
chest and lung conditions.
Dr. Jeffrey said he will benefit from the ACCP’s
extensive education programs. “This affiliation provides another
reliable resource for continuing medical education specifically
targeting thoracic disease and treatment,” he said.
The ACCP often creates and distributes consensus
statements, practice guidelines, and patient educational materials
which emphasize its focus on chest and respiratory medicine.
Members of the ACCP must be board-certified or
eligible, have expertise satisfactory to the credentials committee,
work a portion of their time in a discipline related to either cardiopulmonary
medicine, surgery, or critical care, and have at least three years
of applied experience in the discipline.
As a surgeon certified by the American Board
of Surgery since 1997, Dr. Jeffrey practices at Batesville Surgery
Specialties Clinic, 501 Virginia Drive, Batesville, Arkansas 72501;
telephone (870) 698-1846.
