Dr. Jeffrey
Becomes Member of Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons - March 2003
Dr. Jay R. Jeffrey, a Batesville surgeon, is a
new member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. The educational
and nonprofit organization aims to help ensure the highest standards
for the practice of laparoscopic, endoscopic, and minimally invasive
surgery. Dr. Jeffrey, a general, thoracic, and peripheral vascular
surgeon, is chief of the medical staff at White River Medical Center
at Batesville. He served as chief of surgery at WRMC during 2000
and 2001.
Through the SLS, Dr. Jeffrey will have access to
the newest ideas and approaches to laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery
as rapidly as possible. SLS makes information available to members
from national and international experts through publications, videos,
conferences, and electronic media.
Dr. Jeffrey’s surgical practice includes
diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the gall bladder, colon,
small bowel, breast, chest, vascular system, thyroid and parathyroid.
He frequently performs cholecystectomies (removal of the gall bladder)
and hernia repairs using laparoscopic techniques. Endoscopy denotes
the use of a tubelike instrument with lenses and a light source
to view internal organs and treat conditions found to be present.
Dr. Jeffrey was recently elected to membership
in the American College of Chest Physicians and is a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons. As a surgeon certified by the American
Board of Surgery since 1997, Dr. Jeffrey practices at Batesville
